The Dog House Foundation Charity is a unique Rescue Centre in Huercal Overa, it was set up by Paul Tighe and Phill Makin. They arrived in Spain in 2003 from the Uk with two rescued dogs of their own, and they soon realised that there was an urgent need to rescue the abandoned dogs in the surrounding areas; this is how it all started. In the summer of 2009 there was a major influx of dogs as people realised that the Foundation took in and rescued dogs, the main cause for this was the recession and major repatriation of people returning to the UK. Within one week during the summer, 15 abandoned dogs were rescued by the Foundation, this is how serious it was getting. It was suggested to Paul and Phill that they should set a charity to help raise funds for the up keep of the many abandoned dogs in their care. In November 2009, The Dog House Foundation was established as a Registered Charity.
